Guestbook for June 12, 2013
5.Mary O'Grady(non-registered)
My father, Thomas O'Grady, served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He attended the Honor Flight to Washington, DC on June 12, 2013. His travel companion was his eldest nephew, Jack O'Malley, who is a U.S. Army veteran. Many members of our family, including my son, Patrick Carroll, and his family, greeted the veterans at Midway Airport on their return. This was an awesome experience for our Dad. Thanks to everyone who planned and coordinated the event.

I am the daughter of a 95 year old veteran Rand Burdette, who attended this event. I cannot express in words the gratitude that I have for anyone who has been involved in this exciting adventure. As Dad landed in Chicago, he called me and was concerned about how I was to meet him in the baggage area. He didn't have a clue as to what was about to transpire. Marjorie, if you read this, thank you so much for your input and for keeping Jake for me until I could get to him. We are still reveling over all the cards and letters Dad received. It has been a tear jerker for me since the flight arrived home. So meaningful for me, for my children, for my grandchildren and for Dad's great grandchildren. THANK YOU EVERYONE. YOU ARE ALL ANGELS SENT FROM HEAVEN.

This day exceeded all of my expectations and will be a priceless memory for my Dad, Dick. I was honored to be part of the Veterans' day. The folks at Honor Flight both in Chicago and Washington DC did an incredible job. Wonderful, wonderful experience.

What an honor and privilege it was to be Joe Ayers' Guardian today. I will never forget this day and what it meant to listen to him and share his visit to his memorial. Glad to have been a part of giving him a true hero's welcome to his memorial.
